I am a full-time student working on my Ph.D in Philosophy. I am specializing in Analytical Anthropology and Media Philosophy. I wanted to improve my reading and writing skills and I took a 4 week TOEFL course at CISL San Francisco. My dream is to read classic American literature without having to use a dictionary all the time. I feel I will be successful with the TOEFL exam. Now I can speak and correct myself if I’m not right.

I loved the TOEFL program for many reasons. First, it was really helpful for expand my skills in the TOEFL sections (Reading, Listening, Speaking, Writing). Second, my teacher was great! He made us believe in ourselfs and skills. Now I feel I am ready to take the test. Thank you for the great school and teacher. :)

I came here in Converse to improve my English. Firstly, I took the standard class and then I wanted an official document of my improvement. So as a matter of fact, I signed up for the TOEFL class. I was torn between Cambridge and TOEFL but considering that I want to stay here, it was the right decision. The first time I came in, I directly felt comfortable. I integrate into the class really easily. Everyone was friendly and cool. Fortunately, I get along with everybody and specially with Ken my (unreadable) teacher. I enjoy working with all of them and I learned during this experience plenty of vocabulary. Moreover, while studying we had some fun so it was great. We practice a lot of time doing mock exams. If I have one note to say it’s that it didn’t last enough.

I love TOEFL class so much. I enjoyed a lot. Besides, I learned many vocabularies that I didn’t know, grammar points and also writing strategies. These are very helpful for me. Furthermore, before I started TOEFL course, I had concerned and was scared about exam but now my concern decreased. I also felt comfortable; I could ask questions as much as I understand. Ken helped me a lot. Moreover, I loved my classmates.

The TOEFL preparation course was a good experience for me. The professor was very helpful. I like the way the course was delivered to us with a lot of oral exercises, grammar exercises. The training for TOEFL test was also very helpful for the real test. The training on computer helped me to improve myself on all parts of the TOEFL exam. The professor always gave us the best remarks about the training we made in order to improve ourselves for the test, especially for the speaking part that is not easy for most of us, and for me especially.

First I attended this class, I thought TOEFL class wasn’t good for me to improve my English. However, after a few days later from first time to attend this class, I changed my opinion. TOEFL class teached me a lot of grammar, words and TOEFL skills. Thank you so much.

I just got my TOEFL score, which is 109.  I appreciate all the help the school gave me, especially Toby's and Barbara's help in class. Also, I'd like to thank everyone from CISL for helping me get this score and for the wonderful experience in San Francisco!

I’m writing to let you and Toby know about my score in TOEFL. My first goal was to get 100 and I got 102 in my first attempt!  I now know how it works, and also that I can get much more thanks to my classes at Converse!  So I’m thinking about taking the test again in July!  Please tell Toby about my score and thank her for her efforts during our classes, specially with the speaking session!  I really enjoyed my time in San Francisco and I hope to visit CISL very soon!
