Guide to Shopping in San Diego

Horton Plaza (Downtown San Diego)

Located just down the street from campus, this beautiful outdoor mall has all the “big-name” brands (Abercrombie & Fitch, Hollister, American Eagle, Victoria’s Secret) as well as large department stores like Macy’s and Nordstrom’s. The best part? The top floor has an array of restaurants and a movie theater! (The bottom floor also has a great 24 Hour Fitness!)

Fashion Valley (Mission Valley)

This mall has EVERYTHING, including the more upscale stores like Bloomingdale’s and Tiffany & Co. This is also an outdoor mall, and many students spend a day there, followed by lunch at California Pizza Kitchen or the Cheesecake Factory.

Grand and Garnet (Pacific Beach)

Both Grand and Garnet streets are lined with adorable boutiques selling swimwear, clothes, and accessories. Spend the day walking these streets, and then cruise down Mission and Pacific Beaches in your new outfit!

Las Americas Outlets, San Ysidro

Just next to the San Diego/Mexico border are the “famous” outlets of San Ysidro. Students often take the 50-minute trolley ride to this collection of stores. The prices are incredibly low, and you are guaranteed to find good deals.

Westfield UTC Mall (La Jolla/University City)

Another mall located near La Jolla is the UTC Mall. It is a beautiful mall, and like Fashion Valley and Horton Plaza, is has an outdoor design. The UTC Mall also has an ice-skating rink, which is a great activity on a hot summer day! If you are not interested in ice-skating, you can still watch the participants while you enjoy some food from the food court.
