Interesting Facts about San Francisco’s Mission District
- The Mission gets its name from the Alta California Mission (the sixth church built in California, and the oldest building in San Francisco).Â
- It is considered the cultural center for many Latin American and Central American people living in San Francisco.
- The Mission is home to Dolores Park, one of the most famous parks in San Francisco (and a great place to picnic!)
- Since The Mission is a short walk to Downtown San Francisco, many residents do not own a car.
