Need an idea for a day trip while you are studying English in San Francisco? We have you covered. Taking the ferry from San Francisco and spending the day in Sausalito is the perfect day trip!
The Golden Gate Ferry is San Francisco’s water transportation system. The ferry takes travelers from the city to Larkspur or Sausalito every day of the year except major holidays, and the cost is $10.25. (Click here for the schedule.)
In addition to quickly taking you from San Francisco to Sausalito, you get to enjoy views of the city and the Golden Gate Bridge from the Bay. Beautiful!
What is there to do once the ferry drops you off in Sausalito? Enjoy this charming seaside town! Sausalito is the village on the other side of the Golden Gate Bridge. It is built on a mountain and is known for its beautiful green landscape and bright blue, ship-filled harbor. It is easy to see why many celebrities and artists call Sausalito “home”.
The restaurants lining the little town are great places to stop and have lunch before or after walking on the Sausalito harbor. If you feel like a longer walk, just two miles north of the city is a houseboat community with old, restored houseboats that are quite interesting to see. If you don’t feel like walking, catch some rays on Sausalito’s beach and enjoy the gorgeous view.
