Recently, CISL San Diego students took a trip to the local bowling alley. Looks like they had a lot of fun!

Would you like to learn a little about bowling-related vocabulary?

Strike (noun): when you hit all ten pins down in one try.

Spare (noun): when you hit all 10 pins down in two tries.

Gutter ball: when the ball goes in the gutter and you don’t hit any pins. Oops!

There is also a very interesting bowling idiom: to bowl someone over. This means to surprise someone with news… or to literally knock a person down to the ground!
