Downtown San Diego is just 20 minutes from the Mexican border, so it is no surprise that we have delicious Mexican food. Our student Tamara recently visited a Mexican restaurant in San Diego’s Old Town and was kind enough to share her experience with us. Enjoy her article about her fun evening with other CISL students!

Last weekend me and my friends had a great dinner in the Mexican restaurant called Casa de Reyes in Old Town. From the moment I walked in this beautiful place I was amazed by the incredible surroundings, the playful little shops and the amazing atmosphere. It wasn’t a fake Mexican restaurant, from which San Diego has a lot. You can see the real Mexican touch and feel the temperament of this culture. There is a band playing famous Latin-songs with the typical Spanish guitar, which I really love to hear.

As we heard that we have to wait one hour for our table we got very impatient because all of us were so hungry! We decided to walk around this place so that the time would go a little faster. Later a friend of mine discovered a wine store. (The thing you have to know is that we all love wine.) In the store they offered a wine tasting. For only $10 you can choose five wines: red wine, white wine, rosé and zinfandel. Finally we drank a lot of good wine and my favorite was a fruity Zinfandel.

After, the waitress called us to our table. We ordered fajitas with tasty shrimp, delicious meat and other yummy sides. To make a long story short: it was a great evening in a charming restaurant with awesome Mexican food. And the wine bar turned the waiting time into a fun experience. You have to visit….trust me, you will not be disappointed!
