The Activities Coordinator at Converse International School of Languages in San Diego often arranges student trips to Balboa Park. Last week, students took a trip to the park and to the Museum or Man, one of many museums on the premises.

The Museum of Man is dedicated to anthropology (the academic study of humanity). The core exhibits of the Museum include a showcase on the Mayans called Maya: Heart of Sky, Heart of Earth which features casts of Mayan monuments; another exhibit called Ancient Egypt, including over 400 Ancient Egyptian relics; and another exhibit titled Kumeyaay: Native Californians, the Native American people of present-day Southern California.

The Museum is also currently hosting Ramp It Up: Skateboard Culture in Native America and several other fascinating exhibits on skateboard culture. The event closes on September 9, so if you are a skateboard lover, make sure to check it out before it moves on to another museum in the U.S.! The Museum is open from 10:00 am to 4:30 pm every day and admission is $12.50 for adults and $8.00 for students with an ID.

Thanks to our students for sharing their photos of the trip to the Museum of Man. We hope that you had a great time checking out the exhibits and relaxing in San Diego’s largest park!
