With over 50 years of experience, Converse International School of Languages (CISL) is internationally recognized as a leader in effective language training. CISL’s campus in San Diego, California, offers programs and courses in English as a Second Language (ESL), including Cambridge English, and IELTS exam preparatory courses. Additionally, CISL offers academic-focused courses and programs, such as the English for Academic Purposes course and the Academic Year Abroad and University Pathway programs.
CISL is one of the only language schools in North America with an average of 8 students per class, which provides every student with more speaking time and instructor attention than larger classes. In addition to improving their English language skills, CISL students have the opportunity to learn about other cultures through the diverse student population.
CISL also offers intensive English camps for teens in locations throughout the USA. Students live and study on some of the most beautiful university campuses in the U.S.–Barnard College/Columbia University (New York City), Georgetown University, University of California, Berkeley (San Francisco), University of San Diego, Pepperdine University (Los Angeles)–or stay with an American host family and attend classes at CISL’s Downtown San Diego English school with the SD January Homestay (Spring and Summer homestay options also available for juniors).
With CISL’s all-inclusive Junior Programs, teens learn English through intensive classes in a small classroom setting (average 14 per class). CISL offers three summer junior programs: English for the 21st Century, Business English and Academic English. During the afternoons and weekends, students explore California and East Coast cities including New York and Philadelphia through CISL-organized activities and excursions.
CISL language schools provide challenging and interesting classes designed to help students achieve their goals as quickly as possible. Qualified CISL instructors are trained to provide students with lessons designed for their personal, professional, and academic needs so they can begin communicating effectively and with confidence!
CISL students do more than just learn English–they learn about different cultures and how to communicate with people from those cultures so that they can use English to connect with people from all over the world. Students can also experience the best of San Diego through CISL’s activity programs. CISL activities include visiting museums, wine tasting, sports events, rock climbing, and other excursions that help students make new friends and use English in social situations.
